Live music and movie experiences for the Open House BCN
Live music, city history, and a cinematic hotel right in the center of Barcelona. That's what Hotel Granvía offers to the participants of the 48h Open House Barcelona festival, which takes place on the 21st and 22nd of October. The history is told through the figure of Dorotea de Chopitea, a great patron of Barcelona who left the city a significant legacy such as the Sacred Heart chapel on the summit of Tibidabo, the Salesianos de Sarrià's School of Graphic Arts, or the very building that is now Hotel Granvía, which was her family residence.
This story is still preserved in the excellent maintenance of the building's main elements: its facade, its main staircase, and its grand hall, which have become the setting for numerous films and television series, both national and international. To accompany the tour and enrich the experience, different live music sessions will evoke the times when the hotel was one of the cultural and social hubs of Barcelona, hosting meetings, galas, and dances of the era. Jazz music, dixie, and covers of the best international pop-rock from the 80s and 90s will make the fleeting visit to the Hotel Granvía a cinematic experience.
And as a grand finale to this sensory experience, the sense of taste could not be overlooked, which attendees will be able to indulge in with the gastronomic offerings available at the Hotel during those days: cured meats, cheeses, bread with tomato, and nachos with cheese that will pair perfectly with Gin Tonics and Martinis Riserva prepared on the spot by the hotel staff.
For the director of the event, Elisenda Bonet: “The Gran Vía has always been an interesting place because of all the history of Dorotea de Chopitea that it carries. It's very positive for the city that this hotel joins a cultural project like Open House. Hotels are spaces where city residents don't usually enter, they find it hard to meet in the lobbies for a drink, and that's why they are highly sought after during OpenHouse "
