A boy wearing jeans and a short-sleeved t-shirt descends some stairs with his mobile in hand, oblivious to the composition he is creating at that very moment with the surroundings. Behind him, a spectacular building with steel, large windows, and a small vertical garden cascading down the entire facade. In front of the boy, on the other side of the railing that supports the stairs, some small bushes indicate the nascent garden forming next to the building, the new Municipal Sports Center of Turó de la Peira, in Barcelona. This image, captured by the architect Laura Montes, is just one of the ten finalists of the #Opengram contest organized every year by the 48h Open House Barcelona with the sponsorship of Grupo Núñez i Navarro.

Open to all

Like the other nine images, Laura Montes' photo exemplifies this year's contest theme perfectly: the urban landscape, where the buildings from the festival's program blend together. The event, held in Barcelona last October, promoted and vindicated the figure of the female architect through the fictional character of Pilar Casas Mur, an architect who represents the women who have contributed to architectural works throughout history but have always been rendered invisible.

This effort to make women more visible in architecture has spurred on this edition for them to have been, and still be, the main characters. Indeed, out of the 10 finalists, eight are women: @raquelanse, @silvia.terron, @sofiaargelich, @angelspradilla, the aforementioned @laura_montes91, @merydoce, @antodos and @mont_flower. Along with them, @manuel.pichazaca, @bertrandguichoux complete the list of finalists. 10 selected from over a thousand photos that a jury of experts has analyzed one by one to find the 10 that, in their opinion, best fit the theme of this year. A truly difficult task, because the 48h Open House Barcelona has once again stimulated the creative experience of the participants, who have managed to combine in a single image, architecture, landscaping, and photography, three very different disciplines. Having done the hardest part, it is now up to us, the general public, to choose which is the best photo of all. The system is very simple. The organization of the 48h Open House Barcelona has shared all the finalist photos on their Instagram profile. The one with the most likes on the day will be the winner. A stay for two at a Núñez i Navarro hotel is at stake. The solution, on the next day 3 at the event that will be held at Seventy Barcelona. It's in our hands. Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen.
