Sense of community

We are committed to improving the lives of our customers as well as the local community where we conduct our business, by strengthening ties with it through the creation of partnerships with sectoral entities and collaborations with social impact. We contribute to sustainable development in the communities where we operate with corporate policies and practices that create added value for society, taking into account its needs and challenges.

And all this without forgetting our most valuable asset: our employees. To them, we offer health, safety, and wellness plans, work-life balance, equality and diversity, as well as training and professional development.

In 2017, we began a collaboration with the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya and Rural Agents to develop actions for the protection of protected animal species, such as the swift. We also collaborate with other social organizations such as Ulls del Món, Fundación Projecte Home, Red Cross, Banc d’Aliments, or the company Ilunion Laundries of Catalunya, from the ONCE Social Group.

NN Wallery

The city of Barcelona has great cultural potential, which is why we participate in projects in this field, collaborate on others, and have our own cultural project: NN Wallery, which aims to enhance Barcelona's image through urban art and to pay tribute to all Barcelonians, in collaboration with various artists linked to the city. It is a project in collaboration with Norma Editorial that turns construction walls into spectacular urban murals featuring graffiti artists, cartoonists, or comic personalities. In addition, we clean up the city's image by having renowned artists paint the shutters of vandalized shops and parking lots. An action to transform spaces without significant interest into street art works.

Art and architecture

We support Palau Martorell, a 19th-century building with temporary exhibitions, we participate in the 48H Open House Barcelona, a non-profit cultural association that works in the dissemination of the architectural heritage of the city of Barcelona and offers cultural products and services in the field of architecture, and we collaborate with Swab, an independent fair and experimental platform for emerging artistic proposals. We also collaborate in the format of space cession with Il·lacions, a design gallery, and Drap-Art, an association of artists, cultural managers, and creative individuals from different disciplines with the goal of making visible, through art, the ecological disasters caused by our consumer society and proposing more sustainable lifestyles.

Certifications

In each of our business lines, we maintain the improvement of people's environment as an essential pillar. And we do it by enhancing their immediate surroundings: building spaces to live, work, and enjoy; and also by improving their urban environment: helping to build Barcelona, enhancing its urban mobility, and preserving its historical heritage through the restoration of emblematic buildings.

For this reason, we develop projects with WELL™ certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). It is an equitable, global certification model, evidence-based and third-party reviewed, technically robust, focused on the building user and resident. A tool to improve the health and well-being of buildings and people around the world from a holistic perspective. Likewise, we have the Safe Travels stamp in all our hotels.

Equality and diversity

Currently, 43% of NN's workforce are women, and the percentage of women in management positions is 30%. This is the result of more than a decade of steadfast work to achieve, among other things, equal pay, with the average salary for men and women already equalized. We also have a Workplace Harassment Protocol, focused on preventing any harassment situation, detecting discrimination of any kind, and a procedure for investigating and sanctioning possible harassment situations.
